One of NCIG's two shiploaders was blown off its rails and damaged on November 16 2020, which caused the terminal to have a 30% reduced export capacity. Project Control Pty Ltd were engaged to develop a recovery program with FLSmidth with the aim of returning the damaged shiploader to service as fast as possible.
It was quickly established that a full replacement taking approximately 18 months would not satisfy this requirement. A repair strategy was implemented resulting in a return to service within 9 months. |

This was our 1st project working for Port Waratah Coal Services, and were responsible for the development of contract schedules. A joint venture company on behalf of PWCS managed the construction of a 3rd Shipping Berth as part of the expansion of the Coal Loading Facility.
We had a number of obstacles to overcome on this project, in particular a very short time frame of 9 months, a tight budget, EPA requirement regarding the dredged material, underwater bank slippage after initial dredging was completed, as well as the usual contractor claims and delays.
