Providing Services Engineering and Overall Planning to the builder, D.F.McCloy during the construction of the New John Hunter Hospital, working with Harry Taylor, overseeing the installation of services, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, high purity water, boilers, chillers etc.

The hospital was nearing practical completion, and was hit by the 1989 Newcastle Earthquake, causing $6mil in damages.  Many of the project team had already left the project, and I was elevated to senior site engineer working under Harry Taylor.

Some of my duties included;

  • Supervision of all Services, Labour, and Subcontractors.
  • Project planning and performance monitoring using project management software.
  • Co-Ordination and Minutes for all Site Meetings.
  • Preparation of Defect Lists.
  • Preparation of Maintenance Manuals.
  • Documentation and management of the rectification, and final re-commissioning of all earthquake damaged services in the new hospital.
  • Co-Ordination and management of all associated services and building trades labour during earthquake rectification.
